Breathing apparatus

Breathing Apparatus is a fundamental part of ensuring your workforces safety. Because of this Sabre Safety work hand in hand with the industry leading specialists to ensure the highest quality breathing apparatus is utalised to protect your workforce. Sabre Safety Services are a Major distributer for 3M Scott and work closely together ensuring

Breathing apparatus consists of four fundamental parts, a high pressure breathing air cylinder, pneumatics, black plate and harness and face mask. Sabre Safety services extensive range of breathing apparatus is utalised around the globe to protect workers.

Breathing apparatus is used where there is a risk of the environmental conditions becoming Immediately Dangerous To Life or Health (IDLH). This can be due to a multitude of factors from release of toxic gas or contaminants to smoke and fumes.  Breathing apparatus comes in three main forms; Self Contained breathing apparatus SCBA, Supplied airline breathing apparatus SABA, and Emergency Escape Breathing Device EEBD.

Self Contained breathing apparatus (SCBA)

Type 1 & 2 open circuit, self-contained, compressed air breathing apparatus. Including models such as Contour, ProPak & Sigma. Complete with High pressure cylinder cylinder, SCBA is capable of providing the user up to 45 Minutes of breathing air. SCBA is ideally suited for operations where unrestricted movement is required and users are required to move between areas.

Please note SCBA can also be connected to a dedicated breathing air systems via a pigtail to increase the working duration of the set.

Supplied airline breathing apparatus (SABA)

Supplied airline breathing apparatus SABA including models such as Flite, Flite COV & RAS are designed to be used in conjunction with a 10, 13 or 15 minute hip mounted cylinder as work escape sets. SABA are used for working only when connected to a supplied breathing air line. The back up cylinder is reserved exclusively for escape.

SABA is ideally suited for operations where Operators are working in congested area where large BA cylinders would be a hazard. They are more comfortable for operators to wear for extended durations.

Emergency Escape Breathing Apparatus (EEBA)

Emergency Escape Breathing Device EEBA including models such as ELSA 2000, ELSA Muster, & ELSA Sprint are escape breathing apparatus which provides a constant supply of air for rapid escape from hazardous environments.

EEBA’s are situated in high risk areas where, in the event of an emergency, personnel in the area can quickly don the set and make their way to a safe location. EEBA’s have either a 10 or 15 minute cylinder. EEBA’s can have constant flow or can be demand fed and come complete with either Hood or Face Masks depending on the requirements.

Gas detection

Sabre Safety utilise the latest technology in the gas direction field ensuring our clients and operatives have the highest quality and most reliable gas detection devices on the market.

Various Gas detectors are available to detects the presence of specific gases in atmosphere ranging from personal single gas detector to a full fixed gas detection system covering large areas and incorporating many fixed sensors.

Gas detection equipment is categorised into 4 main groups. single gas portable, multi gas portable, wireless area monitoring & fixed area monitoring.

Single Gas Portable

Single Gas Portable detectors such as the Teledyne Protégé ZM, and Crowcon Clip are gas specific and are designed to be worn in the users breathing zone to offer the maximum protection, Alerting the personnel at risk of exposure to take appropriate action as soon as their breathing zone is compromised. The detectors have 2 or 3 year battery life and are maintenance free.

Multi Gas Portable

Multi Gas Portable are similar in use to the Single gas however have more functionality and can detect up to 4 gases. Detectors such as the Blackline G7c, BW Quattro, Crowcon T4 and Teledyne GMI PS200 are dual purpose and can be used to carry out atmospheric gas tests for tank entries etc. Multigas meters provide more accurate readings, have logging functions for reviewing data and can be fitted with pumps for carrying out long range gas tests.

Wireless Area Monitoring

Wireless area monitors such as the Blackline G7EXO / G8EXO which are utilised to monitor environmental conditions in larger areas where there is no coverage from fixed gas detection or used supplementary to fixed gas detection for increased user protection. Alerting personnel to the presence of up to 4 gases in the area with its beacon and sounder. And datalogging for up to 4 months enables users to monitor areas even when personnel aren’t present. With direct to cloud and satellite modules available, monitoring remote locations can be carried out all over the globe. Additional SMS and alert functions are available.

Fixed Area Monitoring

Fixed area monitors such as the MeshGuard intelligent, self-healing network are designed for quick deployment in areas where traditional fixed gas detection monitors might have been used in the past, but a lower cost solution with faster deployment is needed. The Meshguard system can be linked with a FMC2000 command and control center allowing operators to monitor and managing up to 24 wireless monitors remotely from a safe area.

MeshGuard is available with field-replaceable precision sensors specifically designed to sense toxic and flammable gases.

Muster Station

The Sabre Muster station is an emergency breathing air systems designed to provide safe breathing air to a full asset POB at a designated Muster area in the event of an emergency such as a major release of toxic gas.

The system is designed to provide safe breathing air for up to 225 users but can be extended with additional modules if required.

Sabre Safety modular muster station design ensures it can be reconfigured to ensure suitability in every scenario. Consisting of 3 separate 75 operator modules it can be split to provide multiple safe muster areas or combined to one large area depending on requirements.

system Components consist of

  • Sixteen (16) Cylinder Breathing Air High Pressure Air Storage Rack. All storage cylinders have a 50 litre water capacity and are charged to a pressure of 200 bar providing a total of 160,000 litre of air, approximately 66 hours of breathing air (Based on 40LPM).
  • High pressure breathing hose of various lengths to connect between air storage racks, high pressure distribution manifold and regulator stations in each muster area.
  • High pressure regulator station, to reduce the air from 200/300Bar to 7.5Bar for low pressure distribution manifolds, capable of delivering breathing air in accordance with European Standards. Each regulator station can support 75 persons.
  • Low pressure distribution manifold – 15 outlet manifolds providing networks of quick connect outlet points for each muster area.
  • Low pressure breathing hose to connect Regulator station to low pressure distribution manifolds distributed around muster areas.
  • Personal airline hose for connection between outlet manifold system in muster area and users airline escape breathing apparatus.
  • Positive pressure escape set providing air on demand for situations where the escape route may require a lot of physical exertion or where the maximum levels of protection are required. The Sabre ELSA Muster has an ancillary air in attachment for use at Muster stations.
