Safehouse Habitats
Common habitat applications
Oil & Gas
We can support operations in all sectors within the Oil & Gas industry, including Upstream, Midstream, and Downstream, onshore, and offshore.
Repair and maintenance projects, such as replacement of specialist gratings, hot work, plant upgrades, blasting, environmental containment, heat treatment, or specialist coatings can all be carried out safely using our ATEX and IECEx certified Safehouse Habitats and engineered protection systems, without the need for shutdown. Our early intervention and involvement in planning such work scopes enable simultaneous operations to proceed safely. Our certified products integrated into plans add value by enhancing the process safety regime, increasing tool time while keeping people safe.
Use cases
- Brownfield Maintenance
- Asset Integrity
- Construction & Engineering Projects
- And any other bespoke client requested solutions
Petrochemical
Our expertise extends across the petrochemical sector, where process safety, productivity, and uptime are critical. Safehouse Habitats provide certified, engineered environments that allow hazardous work such as welding, cutting, or blasting to proceed safely in classified zones without costly plant-wide shutdowns. By working closely with turnaround planners and maintenance teams, we help deliver projects on time, reduce downtime, and protect both people and assets in some of the most challenging operating environments.
Use cases
- Turnaround
- Scheduled Shutdowns
- Maintenance
- Construction & Engineering Projects
- And any other bespoke client requested solutions
Marine
With extensive experience throughout the marine sector, Safehouse has facilitated the safe execution of hot work on board LNG, Ethylene and LPG carriers, Oil and Product Tankers, FSRUs, FLNGs and FPSOs. By eliminating the need for gas-free, we save our clients millions in schedule delays, off-hire losses, and the cost of discharging gas heels.
Use cases
- Marine Repairs
- Retro Fit Engineering Projects
- Deck Repairs
- Planned Warranty Scopes
Decommissioning
Decommissioning projects often involve complex work scopes in ageing assets where hazardous atmospheres, confined spaces, and deteriorating infrastructure present significant safety challenges. Safehouse Habitats allow these activities -such as cutting, grinding, welding, and equipment removal to be carried out safely within ATEX and IECEx certified positive-pressure environments, even in live or partially live systems.
Use cases
- Feasibility studies & early scope planning
- Topside module cutting & removal
- Pipeline sectioning & flange breaking
- Structural steel dismantling in hazardous zones
- Vessel & tank deconstruction
- Asset recovery operations in live environments
Distilling
The distilling industry is the lifeblood of many communities, none more so than in Scotland, where we work with some of the significant global distilleries.
We work alongside maintenance teams to plan, deliver, install, and manage safe working environments, enabling alcohol production to continue safely while hazardous work, such as hot work in an explosive atmosphere, is carried out. This includes maintenance and repair work to stills, bottling halls, transmission rooms, and warehouses, which, where appropriate, may be designated as Zone 1 and Zone 2 hazardous areas.
Use cases
- Stills Maintenance & Repairs
- Bottling Hall Modifications
- Transmission Room Upgrades
- Warehouse Repairs in Hazardous Zones
- Scheduled Shutdown Work in Production Areas
